Step 1
SUBMIT YOUR VEHICLE OR ITEM
If you are ready to sell your vehicle or automobilia with Gooding & Company, please contact a specialist directly or complete our consignment questionnaire. Whether you wish to sell a item or a large collection, Gooding & Company is able to provide expert advice and effective sales strategies.
Step 2
Seller’s Agreement
Before you sell your collector car with Gooding & Company, whether through a live auction, an online auction, or via a private treaty sale, you must sign an exclusive consignment agreement. The agreement contains our terms and fees for the auction and private sale consignment process.
Step 3
Shipping & Staging Arrangements
Once we have received a seller’s agreement, we will contact you to discuss the transportation of the car to our Gooding & Company facility. For online auctions, we require all cars to be shipped to us in advance of the auction to afford us time to properly prepare and represent them. Additionally, housing all the vehicles in one accessible setting provides us a unique ability to offer on-site inspections for interested buyers and awards our specialists the opportunity to personally engage with each available lot on behalf of the buyers and sellers.
Step 4
Catalogue Description & Photography
When your car or item arrives at our facility, it will be professionally detailed and photographed, and a description will be researched and written, so that it can be marketed in advance of the sale. Our photographers, writers, and researchers are among the best in the business and our presentations are widely considered the finest in the industry.
Step 5
The Online Archives
For online auctions, registered bidders will be provided access to The Online Archives to examine any records that might accompany the cars. Digital scans of documents such as service reports, owner’s manuals, and factory records may be made available for review, as well as digital photos of accompanying items. After the auction, we will ship the vehicle’s document binder to the winning bidder.
Step 6
After the Sale
After a successful sale, you will be notified of the final bid price for your consignment. Once payment is received, we will release the car as well as send the vehicle’s document binder, title, and any accompanying items to the winning bidder. If a buyer was not found, you will be able to speak with a specialist to discuss possible post-auction sales or additional marketing efforts. Approximately 20 days after each auction, Gooding & Company will settle payment for sales, by providing consignors with a settlement statement itemizing all charges.
