Introduced with the slogan, “Greater Beauty, Greater Comfort and Greater Safety,” Ford Motor Company’s 1935 model line dominated America’s auto industry with flathead V-8 power and handsome styling at a remarkably low price. Based on designs penned by Phil Wright of the Briggs Manufacturing Company, the restyled 1935 Ford models outsold archrival Chevrolet by a wide margin. As always, a wide variety of body styles were offered, including the Deluxe Roadster, which was a particularly glamorous and rare Ford model for 1935, priced from $550. A total of 4,896 examples were produced.
Benefiting from restoration work, this 1935 Ford V8 Deluxe Roadster features an attractive color combination with black paint accented by a red pinstripe and matching wire-spoke wheels. The Ford is fitted with various period accessories, including the twin amber fog lamps, greyhound radiator mascot, twin chrome mirrors, and a Mansfield combination rearview mirror and clock. This striking Deluxe Roadster is documented with service records, several photos of the car stripped for paintwork, and paperwork from its various Boston-area show participations.
Offered here is a charming classic that combines Art Deco styling, open-air motoring, and the sonorous tone of Ford’s legendary flathead V-8.
