Chrysler’s Town and Country debuted for the 1941 model year, and was offered in convertible, sedan, and station wagon body styles. According to its extensive history file, this lovely Town and Country was owned as early as 1975 by Raymond Endicott of Seattle. In November 2003, it was purchased by noted collector Thomas Armstrong of Issaquah, Washington, joining his extensive collection of classic, sports, and racing cars. Mr. Armstrong embarked on an extensive two-year restoration, bringing the Chrysler to a concours standard. Importantly, the vast majority of the Sedan’s original wood framing was retained, and expertly refinished by master woodworker Don Vogelsang. Pebble Beach Best of Show-winning painter Jon Byers refinished the steel parts of the body in a beautiful shade of tan, while the interior was finished in a deep red leather with mahogany door panels and wool carpeting. The engine has been upgraded with myriad performance parts including twin downdraft Carter Ball & Ball carburetors, Edmunds intake manifold, and an Edmunds aluminum cylinder head. Exceptionally detailed, the Chrysler sports desirable accessories, including a wood roof rack, twin spotlights, and a sun visor.
The quality of this Town and Country remains exceptional, and in the ensuing 19 years after its extensively documented restoration, it has seen consistent care and minimal use. Appealing to all generations, this Chrysler offers the astute collector the chance to add an CCCA Full Classic to their collection in the form of a mid-century masterpiece.
