Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, then Ferrari’s president, shifted Ferrari’s design philosophy when he announced that the marque’s next series-production flagship would return to a front-engine layout. Introduced in 1996, the 550 Maranello was designed by Pininfarina and blended contemporary and classic design elements while paying homage to the iconic 365 GTB/4 Daytona. Featuring a gated six-speed manual gearbox, the Maranello was powered by a tipo F133 5.5-liter V-12 engine. Developing 478 hp at 7,000 rpm, the car was capable of 0–60 mph in 4.4 seconds and a 199 mph top speed.
Presenting beautifully throughout, this US-specification 2001 Ferrari 550 Maranello is finished in Nero Daytona (Daytona Black) over a black leather interior. According to a CARFAX Vehicle History Report on file, this example has had three owners from new and was serviced by authorized dealerships before its 2021 acquisition into a prominent collection containing some of Ferrari’s finest GT cars. Maintained by the current owner’s in-house team, a timing belt and fluid service was performed in anticipation of the sale.
Showing just 2,933 miles at the time of cataloguing, this 550 is accompanied by its books, tools, and accessories. Judged at the 2023 Ferrari Club of America National Meeting, this Maranello achieved a Platinum Award, attesting to its originality and condition. Presented in a rare, desirable color scheme, this final-year Ferrari 550 Maranello offers an experience that cannot be replicated with any modern Ferrari.
