During the 1955 racing season, following the death of racer Alberto Ascari, Ferrari acquired the assets of Scuderia Lancia's racing program, including Lancia's D50 race car. After further development, it was rebadged as the Lancia/Ferrari D50. After a particularly hard-fought season, Juan Manuel Fangio won the World Championship of Drivers in a Ferrari-modified D50. Immortalized by Lawrence Braun in bronze and stainless steel, this exciting and rarely seen sculpture is the first of the 21 numbered pieces cast in the edition.
