Auctions and Brokerage
Brilliantly conceived as one of the first mass-produced small cars, the original Topolino was produced from 1936 to 1955. A signature feature was a beautiful low-profile hood that cascaded over the 500 cc engine; the radiator was placed behind the engine for optimum aerodynamics and an unobstructed front view.
Italians clamored for the charming and capable Fiat, affectionately naming it Topolino, the Italian name of Mickey Mouse. Sales were remarkably robust, reaching 500,000 units in various forms. The Model B, produced only in 1948 and 1949, retained the original body design, with a unique rollback canvas roof, while offering more horsepower and improved suspension.
In 2016, the current owner, a Ferrari expert and restoration specialist, imported this Topolino from Italy. As chassis 137801 had previously been only cosmetically restored, the owner enlisted restoration expert Greg Jones to perform a meticulous overhaul with attention to correct mechanical components, refined interior details, high-quality finishes, and minor updates. In 2017, this 500 B won First in Class at the Renaissance car show in Mississippi.
One of the earliest pioneers of small-car design, this charming, beautifully restored Topolino is primed for enjoyable driving and delightful vintage events.
