Produced from 1949 through 1953 and visually distinct from its cast-iron American peers, the MG TD retained classic charm while providing polished performance. Its modest 54 hp was capable of producing speeds of 70 mph with solid handling to boot.
This beautifully restored TD is handsomely finished in black with red leather interior. Although early provenance is undocumented, the car was obtained in 1989 by oil industry businessman Stephen Zamets, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, who began a restoration before selling the MG to Rev. Jim Keith of Rogers, Arkansas. By the time Rev. Keith acquired it, the car had a restored chassis, new wiring, five new wheels, hubcaps, and tires, complete red leather interior, and wool carpets. The gauges and dash had been restored and the MG was painted, with new bumpers and replated brightwork. Rev. Keith had the car shipped to noted restorer Mark Willey of Springdale, Arkansas, who completed the project, rebuilt the motor and transmission, and installed new weather equipment. In 2014, the current owner purchased the pristine MG and offers it today complete with original factory tools, jack, and owner’s manual.
This lovely MG TD is not only impressively presented, it is also a truly excellent example of the marque and an ambassador of its era.
