First of the legendary XK series, the Jaguar XK120 was introduced in 1948, and possessed head-turning styling and inspiring performance that made the model an instant classic. With its name alluding to its top speed of 120 mph, the XK120 was one of the fastest cars of its time. When the first XK120s arrived in North America, their beguiling design attracted such Hollywood-based customers as Clark Gable, Mamie Van Doren, and Jayne Mansfield.
According to its JDHT Certificate, this XK120 was built in March 1953, and dispatched to the Canadian Jaguar distributor J.L. Cooke, before being sold to D.E. Ness of Ontario, Canada. Originally finished in British Racing Green over tan leather, the Jaguar spent a majority of its earlier years in Canada, as photographs dated 1964 show the Roadster with Canadian plates. A frameoff, photo-documented restoration was later performed in British Columbia, which included a repaint in the car’s current highly attractive colors. Following completion, it achieved a remarkable 99.67 points in JCNA judging in 1999, under the ownership of David and Birgit Roberts of Vancouver.
In 2000, the Jaguar joined the respected collection of Jim and Evelyn Fasnacht of Houston, before making its way to the consignor in early 2007. A regular exercise and detailing schedule has ensured that this XK120 continues to present in show-quality form today. Elegant, sporting, and sophisticated in equal measure, this concours-proven XK120 is ready to thrill its next fortunate owner.
