Original Owner, Dallas, Texas (acquired new in 1953)Werner Spier M.D., El Paso, Texas (acquired from the above on June 4, 1960)Current Owner (acquired from the above)

The charming MG TD offered here benefits from the loving use of one owner for over 50 years. The MG TD was purchased by Werner Spier M.D. on June 4, 1960, from a Dallas Coca-Cola executive, who is believed to be the original owner. In a nod to his employer, the MG TD then sported a two tone, red with white finish, with the tonneau cover done to match. At the time, the car showed just 39,500 miles and cost Dr. Spier $1,050.

Dr. Spier, an El Paso resident, was thrilled to note two period accessories still present on the MG TD today, the aluminum valve cover and, most importantly, the presence of the rarely seen Accessories Ltd. steel spare-tire cover.

The MG TD remained a fixture in the Spier family, but, after a couple of refinishes of the paint throughout the years, it became evident the MG TD needed more extensive work. In 1990 and 1991, the MG TD was entrusted to marque specialist Barry Briskman of Scottsdale, Arizona, for a complete restoration. While the factory original colors are thought to be ivory with green, Dr. Spier requested Reno Red with a tan interior and top, with a tonneau to match.

Retained by the Spier family for more than 20 years, the beautifully restored MG TD was lovingly used and well looked after. Attesting to Mr. Briskman’s fine work, the MG TD presents beautifully with a light patina. Offered with books and tools, this MG TD is further accompanied by a history provided by Dr. Spier and his logbook, including the first entry commemorating his June 4, 1960, purchase of this lovely last-year MG TD.
