This outstanding late example of the original Ford Thunderbird (those produced between 1955 and 1957) benefits from longtime care by dedicated enthusiasts, as well as rare mechanical specifications. Though the C-code 292 cid V-8 and three-speed transmission were nominally standard features for the 1957 Thunderbird, the options accounted for as little as 10% of overall production, according to some enthusiasts, making this a rarely equipped T-Bird.

According to the records of the Classic Thunderbird Club International, this car was awarded Senior status within the Original Division in 1981, a testament to its state of authenticity. Acquired in the early 2000s by famed Ford collector and former Dearborn executive Michael Dingman, the T-Bird was treated to a high-quality restoration. It passed in 2007 to Ervin “Bud” Lyon, the respected New Hampshire collector, and benefited from his meticulous care.

Purchased in 2011 by the consignor, this Thunderbird has since received some cosmetic and mechanical attention, including new seat upholstery, work to the engine and power brakes, and replacement of many soft components (including the soft top seals). Featuring a meticulously finished undercarriage and engine bay with dress-up kit, this T-Bird is particularly fetching in Gunmetal Gray paint, and is prepared for driving with radial whitewall tires. Beautifully presented throughout and carrying impressive provenance, this elegant Thunderbird merits serious consideration by any Ford enthusiast or sports car collector.
