Coachwork by Pinin Farina
The Giulietta was created as a special series awarded to prizewinners of the Italian lottery, but soon drew a wider audience. Alfa Romeo rushed the unlikely favorite into production; first the Bertone-bodied Sprint, followed by the Berlina, and, in 1955, the Spider with coachwork by Pinin Farina. Powered by the 1.3-liter dual overhead camshaft aluminumalloy engine, the Giulietta Spider soon became the darling of the Italians for its responsive handling. The Giulietta and subsequent Giulia were built for 12 years from 1954 through 1965, totaling a production run of almost 132,000 units.
This lovely Giulietta Spider was built in 1958, and is quintessentially finished in red with a cloth black top; new, black leather interior with matching red piping; and new red carpets – a traditional and fitting presentation for the Alfa Romeo. The paint and chrome are freshly restored and the engine bay is highly detailed from top to bottom, providing the Spider a clean presentation throughout. The Giulietta has also been recently fitted with radial tires to enhance the overall driving experience.
For the buyer who is delighted by the timeless elegance of Pinin Farina styling and in search of a spirited drive, it doesn’t get much better than this fabulously presented Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider. The Giulietta Spider has garnered increased collectability in recent years for their enjoyable, top-down event use, which this particular example is sure to offer.
