Ford Motor Company debuted an entirely new Continental for 1958. Departing from body-on-frame models, the Continental Mark III employed advanced unibody construction, a new engine, transmission, and suspension. The 1958, with its 131" wheelbase and 229" overall length, is the longest postwar US convertible ever produced.

This exceptional unrestored Starmist White Continental Mark III Convertible is highly optioned with the opulence expected from Ford’s flagship automobile, including tinted glass, power steering, brakes, windows, vent windows, convertible top, six-way power seats, Town and Country signal-seeking radio, and fascinating power Breezeway rear window. Most notably, this convertible is optioned with factory dual-zone air-conditioning, which features dash-mounted vents for front-seat occupants and sends cool air through the car’s doors to comfort rear-seat passengers. Primarily installed in sedans, factory air-conditioning was an extraordinarily uncommon option in the 1958 convertibles.

Largely unrestored with one professional repaint, the Mark III’s outstanding original brightwork, engine bay, undercarriage, and wonderfully patinated leather seats are a testament to this Continental’s careful stewardship. Following attention to its mechanicals, including new brakes and rebuilt convertible-top hydraulics, the consignor states the car’s superlative performance complements its striking appearance for a truly enjoyable ownership experience.
