1958 Volkswagen Beetle

Few vehicles have crossed more physical and cultural boundaries than the Volkswagen Beetle. From its birth and use in Germany, it then became the vehicle of choice for the counterculture generation and has further evolved into a minimalist design paragon. With a high-level restoration circa 2010 by a noted marque expert, this is an extremely beautiful and intriguing Beetle.

This Beetle was completed on January 22, 1958, and delivered to Cologne, Germany. Finished in color L240, Agave Green, over K304, Green/Gray Leatherette, this car combines the updated larger rear window design with a fabric ragtop and various other desirable and unusual features, such as trafficators, an outside mirror, and a very rare Loria FM ashtray radio.

Noted VW restoration house West Coast Classic Restoration in Fullerton, California, discovered this Beetle in Texas in the late 2000s and began an outstanding restoration. Reportedly, many original trim pieces, such as the door cards, were perfectly preserved and remain on the car today. A November 2010 VolksWorld magazine article featured the car in detail. Supplied complete with a jack, tool kit, and original owner’s manual, and verified by a Volkswagen Vehicle Identity Certificate, collectors seeking an outstanding early Beetle would be well advised to look closely at this green gem.
