1960 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk I BN7

Building upon the popularity of the 100 series, Austin-Healey introduced the first 3000 model in 1959. Along with front disc brakes, the 3000 featured a new, enlarged 2.9-litre six-cylinder engine, which would earn the Mk I, and three subsequent 3000 models, the moniker “The Big Healeys.” Built over a two-year span, from July 1959 to May 1961, the Austin-Healey 3000 Mk I was available as either a 2+2 convertible (BT7) or a two-seat roadster (BN7). In contrast to the nearly 11,000 examples of the convertible, only 2,825 two-seat roadsters were built.

This desirable two-seat Mk I BN7 model came factory-equipped with optional wire wheels, an adjustable steering column, heater, laminated windscreen, and road speed tires. This vehicle has been driven only 5,000 miles since a thorough restoration commissioned by its previous owner in the late-1990s. As part of the restoration, the BN7 underwent a bare-metal repaint in Colorado Red with black coves, with finish work by respected Austin-Healey specialist Sean Johnson. The interior was refurbished in matching black leather with red piping. In 2002, the original engine and transmission were rebuilt, receiving an aftermarket aluminum-alloy oil pan. Recently, sound-deadening material and heat insulation were added under the carpets and firewall to maximize the driving experience.
