The story of this remarkable Montero Red GTO begins with Lou Yascucci, of Poland, Ohio. He fastidiously saved every dollar he could while waiting out a yearlong license suspension to order the car of his dreams from the local Pontiac dealership. Mr. Yascucci made several unusual requests, including the factory application of an otherwise unavailable white pinstripe and the omission of the driver-side mirror. Taking delivery on July 10, 1965, Mr. Yascucci drove the GTO almost exclusively on local drag strips for the next seven years. It almost never saw the open road.
According to the cover article of the December 2000 issue of High Performance Pontiac, Mr. Yascucci sold his prized “Goat” in 1989 for $20,000 cash with just 748 total miles recorded. After spending time in an Ohio museum, the GTO was thoroughly refreshed by expert muscle car restorer Scott Tiemann.
With 1,414 miles showing when catalogued, this amazing GTO is a testament to 1960s GM build quality. The pristine Parchment bucket seats, immaculate engine bay, beautifully aligned and finished body panels, and gleaming trim create an intoxicating visual effect. Essentially impossible to replace, your close inspection is strongly encouraged.
