Introduced at the October 1965 London Motor Show, the Aston Martin DB6 advanced David Brown’s “Gentlemen’s Express” concept. Cloaked in hand-formed aluminum, retaining highly attractive covered headlamps, and featuring a new Kamm tail with integral spoiler, the DB6 also heralded a longer wheelbase, which offered greater comfort with useful rear seats and additional headroom.

Comprehensive standard features belied the performance of the DB6. Its lusty 4.0-litre DOHC inline six delivered 282 bhp, propelling the car from rest to 60 mph in about six seconds en route to a 140 mph top end. A five-speed ZF gearbox and four-wheel disc brakes were standard. Just 1,575 DB6 coupes were produced along two distinct series between September 1966 and January 1971. Many were owned when new by the era’s top luminaries, including rock icons Mick Jagger and Paul McCartney.

Numbered DB6/2770/LN, this 1967 Aston Martin DB6 is an original left-hand drive North American Export model, built on June 3, 1966, dispatched eight days later to J.S. Inskip Inc. in New York City, and sold new to the Saye Construction Company, also of New York. Richly finished in Mink over dark blue upholstery, the DB6 was particularly well equipped with factory options, including Normalair air-conditioning, chrome road wheels, a heated rear window, 3.73:1 limited-slip differential, three-eared knock-offs, Avon Turbospeed GT whitewall tires, twin Fiamm horns with change-over switch, two safety belts, twin Marchal fog lamps, and a Bosch Koln TR radio with power antenna.

Subsequent long-term owners of this DB6 include collector Harry Mathews of Arvada, Colorado, and Wisconsin business executive and former NFL Green Bay Packer Randy J. Rose. A recent conversation with Mr. Rose regarding his 11-year tenure confirmed its superb driving experience and the maintenance it received from veteran Wisconsin-based specialist Tim Marsh, including a brake service and installation of a new clutch circa 2010.

This outstanding first-series DB6 from 1967 is complete with a correct instruction book, original workshop manual, parts catalogue, tool roll, lead knock-of wheel hammer, and an original jack with accessories. The DB6 retains its desirable factory-optional air-conditioning and five-speed gearbox; and it is accompanied by an Aston Martin Heritage binder including a copy of its build sheet. The car further benefits from recent servicing and a thorough detailing performed under the consignor’s supervision.

A wonderful original left-hand-drive example featuring the most desirable combination of options, including air-conditioning and a manual gearbox, this first-series DB6 is ready for continued enjoyment by a true marque connoisseur.
