The Maserati Sebring was named in honor of the company’s win at the 1957 12 Hours of Sebring and was aimed directly at the US market. Bodied by Vignale in a handsome 2+2 coupe configuration, the Sebring was offered with a luxuriously appointed leather interior and all-round disc brakes.
The further refined Sebring Series II features a DOHC inline six-cylinder engine, enlarged from 3,485 cc to 3,694 cc, resulting in a power hike to 245 bhp and a top speed of 150 mph.
One of just 245 Series IIs built, the example offered here may be the best Maserati Sebring in existence, having benefited from a repaint by the renowned Perfect Reflections and a no-expense-spared restoration, completed by Epifani Restorations some years ago. In the intervening years, it has covered very few miles and appears today in exceptional condition. Most recently, under the care of the current owner, the Sebring has received a comprehensive service, including attention to the fuel system as well as clutch and suspension adjustments.
Given their rarity, Maserati Sebrings do not often come to market, and precious few have been restored to such a high level. Their generous luggage space, large greenhouse, and excellent road manners make them a natural choice for touring. This exceptional Series II is a true standout and is certainly deserving of a place in any collection of the finest quality.
