An original US-specification model finished in striking Signal Red paintwork, this gorgeous longtime California car benefits from a comprehensive and recent restoration costing more than $73,000. In addition to uncommon fit, finish, and detailing, this 280 SL is complemented by a white hard top, black soft top, a show-quality beige leather interior, and very nice brightwork, with both tops wonderfully trimmed inside and out.
The engine and luggage compartments are beautifully detailed with correct finishes and proper decals. Outstanding additional features include a Becker Mexico radio, a hard top stand, two sets of body- and top-matched hubcaps with stowage bag, Michelin whitewall tires, a four-speed automatic gearbox, and period luggage. This 280 SL is said to perform very well, with smooth and responsive acceleration and shifting. Springs, bushings, nuts, bolts, and shock absorbers were replaced with new items or restored back to their original finishes.
A superb example of the final evolution of the W113 series, this very special 280 SL will provide a rewarding experience with the top down or the Pagoda hard top in place. Complete with top wrenches, owner’s manual, and a copy of the factory build record, this outstanding 280 SL is accompanied by proper rubber mats, an original date-coded spare, and a jack, chock, lug wrench, tool roll, fuses, charming luggage, and hard top stand.
