The 280 SE 3.5 Coupe – the culmination of years of product design evolution – emerged with a new 3,499 cc V-8 engine able to easily top 127 mph. Only 3,270 coupes were built, and very few remain today in this superb condition.

This example presents with all of the most desirable options – floor-shift transmission, air-conditioning, and power windows – and was first delivered to France in two-tone Anthracite Grey Metallic with a black roof and black leather upholstery, the exact color scheme it wears today.

According to the consignor, this Mercedes-Benz has been meticulously maintained and was carefully stored for over 20 years before the previous owner, a Mercedes-certified mechanic, began a lengthy full restoration, completed by the consignor in December 2014. He chose to complete the bare-metal repaint in the original Glasurit paint and also re-chromed much of the brightwork, resulting in a stunning and factory-correct appearance. The history file accompanying the car includes invoices from Mercedes-Benz experts, along with correct tools and manuals. The air-conditioning unit and the original Becker radio were also recently serviced.

In 2014, this lovely 280 SE’s appeal and authenticity won it a First Place at the Mercedes-Benz Club of America Concours d’Elegance in Grayson City Park in Georgia. Ready for new accolades and new adventures, this 280 SE is sure to please.
