From the Collection of Lee Weinstein
The evolved 911 2.2 S, built between 1970 and 1971, is often regarded by enthusiasts as one of the best 911 models ever built. With its high-revving 180 hp engine, nimble handling, and exhilarating performance, the 2.2 S was the fastest road-going Porsche of its day and the foundation for many successful endurance racing and rally cars.
After years of driving and collecting classic sports cars, Lee Weinstein had developed an admiration of the early 911 models and eventually began the search for a top-of-the-line “S” variant to join his stable. In 2010, he acquired this attractive 2.2 S coupe, a well-presented example finished in its original color combination of Bahia Red with black upholstery.
As a 1971 model, this car features the rare, one-year-only aluminum deck lid and is desirably equipped with optional Recaro sport seats and period-correct Becker Europa II radio. Prior to Mr. Weinstein’s acquisition, the 911 received mechanical attention, focused on the transaxle, mechanical fuel injection, and other ancillary systems. Well maintained and sparingly driven during his ownership, the 911 is offered with various service and restoration records, an owner’s manual, tool kit, and the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
Early 911 S model Porsches are a rare breed and exceptional ones are even rarer. This 911 is ready to be enjoyed as a beautiful, well-cared-for addition to any collector’s stable.
