Auctions and Brokerage
Modeled on the immortal WWII Jeep and heralded as “tough as a tank, and freeway fast,” the go-anywhere, four-wheel-drive Toyota Land Cruiser delivered on its period advertising promise and spurred many thousands to be sold throughout the world. This gorgeous single family owned Nebula Green “TLC” was originally delivered to Costa Rica, and then was well-maintained and garaged prior to its acquisition by Florida Land Cruiser specialist House of Cruisers.
In the course of a one-year restoration, both the body and frame were stripped to bare metal and resprayed in factory colors. The front seats and rear folding benches received new black vinyl upholstery. Period-correct black rubber mats were fitted to the front floor, and carpeting placed in the rear. The folding top was replaced with correct new beige canvas. New seat belts were added and mechanical components were serviced as required. The brakes were rebuilt, a new exhaust system fitted, a new Optima battery installed, and the original metric instrument cluster replaced with a US-market-correct unit reset to zero. It currently reads 26 miles. Five new retro-look Firestone tires were fitted to the steel rims, along with a set of new OEM hubcaps.
This handsome Toyota Land Cruiser is accompanied by a correct spare wheel, its original and hard-to-find bottle jack, tool kit, and owner’s manual. This FJ40 would make a superb addition for any collector looking to start a new chapter of invigorating travel.
