In the early 1970s, Citroën owned Maserati and conceived a remarkable automobile: The SM. The five-speed manual example offered here is an excellent opportunity to enjoy this achievement, having covered 6,000 miles since restoration and benefiting from a service in 2016 by a marque specialist.

According to the consignor, this Citroën SM was first owned by a Southern California physician for over 30 years. Mechanically sorted in 2004 by noted SM specialist Jerry Hathaway, this example has resided since 2008 in St. Louis, Missouri, where it has been maintained by another Citroën specialist. While Hathaway addressed the car’s mechanical systems, new carpets and headliner were fitted, and the seats were re-covered. Hathaway installed rare anti-roll dampeners, his proprietary ignition system, and European front headlight covers.

Today, this Citroën SM presents beautifully, riding on correct original wheels and proper tall-aspect-ratio radial tires. Included in the sale are the original Citroën warranty and maintenance guide, the owner’s manual, numerous receipts, and a spare of the original and very rare folding key.

Unapologetically different, this represents a special opportunity to own an SM refurbished by the leading marque specialist, and sparingly enjoyed since, in recently serviced condition.
