Rover engineers Gordon Bashford and Spen King began work on the Range Rover in 1966. After more than 40 preproduction vehicles were built, tested, revised, and refined, the Land Rover Range Rover was officially launched in 1970. With four-wheel coil-spring suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, and full-time four-wheel drive, the original two-door design was intended to be a highly capable off-road package with outstanding road manners and passenger comfort. It was advertised as “A Car for All Reasons.”

According to the consignor, this magnificent Land Rover Range Rover is one of just 358 left-hand-drive European export models built for the 1976 model year. It was originally exported to Brussels, Belgium, in Tuscan Blue over Tan Ambla leathercloth. The consignor states that the truck eventually made its way into the long-term ownership of a Central American coffee farmer who commissioned marque specialist Roveria Classics to complete a body-off restoration. While the mechanicals and cosmetics were restored, as many original Land Rover components as possible were painstakingly preserved.

Early Range Rovers were not officially imported to the US, making them an extraordinarily uncommon sight today. Offered with tools, manuals, brochures, press release, British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, and matching picnic set, blanket, and accessories, this remarkable example represents a rare opportunity to acquire a true British motoring icon.
