Proving it’s hip to be square, the TR6 was Triumph’s most celebrated model – and this Michelotti TR6 is a superbly preserved example of the esteemed marque.
The TR6 features an athletic 2.5-litre six-cylinder engine matched to a synchromesh, four-speed gearbox with overdrive. Packing 106 hp and a top speed in excess of 100 mph, the TR6 was so popular that between 1969 and 1976 almost 95,000 were produced, and more than 86,000 were imported to the US.
This late-production TR6, however, went to Canada. In December 1976, it was delivered to Louis Calsavara of Windsor, Ontario, who owned the TR6 for 35 years. In 2011, a new owner acquired it and placed the TR6 in the care of two specialists in British cars, Octagon Motor Group and Ennerdale Engineering, who returned the Triumph to running order. The next owner, from Vancouver Island, sold the Triumph to the consignor – a prominent race car driver and esteemed collector with his own race shop. He had it serviced with just 8,250 miles showing on the odometer, replacing the clutch, adjusting the valves, and adding new hoses and brake pads.
Presented in its original Inca Yellow paint, this TR6 is accompanied by a soft top, tonneau cover, and rare factory hardtop. Its extremely low mileage and exceptional unrestored condition delivers an excellent opportunity to own and drive a no-nonsense, superbly preserved British sports icon.
