Looking at the taut, sinuous lines of the Ferrari 308 GTB, it’s easy to forget that Pininfarina’s talented designer Leonardo Fioravanti drew them 40 years ago. Showing a flowing sophistication, lacking in the model’s 308 GT4 2+2 stablemate, the GTB was an immediate hit and changed the Ferrari production-car landscape forever.
Powered by a sonorous three-liter V-8, the 308 was a world-class performance car buoyed by Ferrari’s ever-improving levels of build quality. The relatively robust drivetrain allowed enthusiasts that had previously passed on a Ferrari to take the plunge and revel in the character that only an Italian thoroughbred can exude.
This classic red Ferrari 308 GTB is a remarkably original and authentic example of the striking Pininfarina design that carried through the 1989 328 GTB. Showing approximately 18,000 miles at the time of cataloguing, this stunning 308 has reportedly been a California car since new and still has its California blue license plates, original tools, and jack. Pride of ownership is apparent in the beautifully preserved interior finishes.
The 308 is firmly establishing itself as a well-respected member of Ferrari’s Enzo-era offerings. Whether new to the marque or an established Ferrari collector, an example such as this should be given serious consideration.
