Coachwork by Scaglietti
*Please note that this vehicle will not be sold for use or resale in California or to a non-dealer California resident. Please also note that this vehicle was driven from Oregon to the auction site, and its total mileage is now approximately 8,400 miles.
Of the 1,000 BBi examples produced, few are as well-preserved and properly maintained as this remarkable 512. It was imported and federalized by Amerispec in 1984 and, according to the consignor’s research, has had three owners from new. In 2008, the Boxer received an engine-out service by Speed Works in Florida, at 6,300 miles, then was acquired by a Ferrari enthusiast in California. Under his watch, DOT-spec bumpers, which had been added in 1984 to adhere to US specifications, were removed. The third and current owner commissioned an engine-out service and water pump rebuild in 2015 by Patrick Ottis, an acclaimed Ferrari specialist in Berkeley, California.
Today, this car has less than 8,000 miles on the odometer, is finished in its original shade of red paint, and retains its original black leather interior. For the last three years, the Boxer has been driven regularly to maintain systems and satisfy its owner’s love of performance driving. Accompanying the car are a tool roll, jack kit, DOT and EPA letters of sanction, service records, and manuals.
This magnificent Boxer is fully operational, has remarkably low mileage, and is aesthetically superb for an unrestored example, differentiating it as an outstanding opportunity to acquire and celebrate one of the most collectible Ferraris of the 1980s.
