Unveiled at the 1975 Paris Motor Show, the Ferrari 308 GTB replaced the much-loved Dino 246. Thoroughly modern with great handling, the 308 was powered by a 2.9-liter DOHC V-8 and utilized double wishbones and disc brakes at all four corners. Arriving in 1977, a Targa-roofed GTS model was identifiable by a black removable roof panel and louvered panels over the rear quarter glass.
Finished in the rare and desirable color combination of black over black leather interior with red piping, this 1985 Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole registered just over 10,200 miles at the time of cataloguing. The consignor traded his 1984 308 GTS to Isringhausen Imports of Springfield, Illinois, for this car in 1989, as he wanted the final year and final version of the 308. He has maintained it in his collection over the years, driving it sparingly on nice days and adding minimal mileage. Records on file indicate the service work it has received, including a timing belt service in July 2019. Accompanying the sale are a second translucent roof panel, manual, tools, spare tire, and a CARFAX Vehicle History Report. It should be noted that the driver’s side window and power antenna are not currently operational.
Arguably, it was the 308 that made Ferrari a household name by appearing for eight seasons alongside Tom Selleck in the 1980s television series Magnum, P.I. A low-mileage example in a rare color, this particular open-roof 308 GTS Quattrovalvole deserves your close attention.
