Coachwork by Scaglietti
Beginning with the 1986 model year, Ferrari updated the massively successful 308 model. Displacement of the 328 was increased to 3.2 liters and numerous mechanical updates improved driving dynamics and ease of service, while a redesign of exterior details gave it a sleeker and more cohesive look. For the model’s final model year, an anti-lock braking system was added. Built alongside the 6,068 open-topped GTS models was the 328 GTB Berlinetta, which was produced in much smaller numbers. According to a Ferrari enthusiast forum, only 1,344 of the pure-of-line coupes were built, with a scant 53 receiving the ABS system at the tail end of production.
This brilliantly presented GTB has remained with a private enthusiast for nearly 25 years and exhibits the benefits of limited use and responsible stewardship. When catalogued, the Berlinetta showed less than 9,200 miles, and the owner states that no paintwork has been performed during his ownership. Following a long period of climate-controlled storage, in 2019, the 328 was carefully recommissioned by Autosprint, Ltd. of Chicago; this work included a belt service, fluid change, and installation of a new battery.
Finished in Rosso Corsa (Racing Red) over tan leather, the interior is especially inviting with its contrasting red carpets and floor mats. Accompanied by its manuals in their leather folio, jack, tool roll, and spare tire, this rare, late-production, low-mileage 328 GTB may be among the finest examples of its kind. It will certainly add sophistication and distinction to any group of sports cars.
