The Ferrari Testarossa, first introduced at the 1984 Paris Salon, was a stunning departure from the 512 Berlinetta Boxer it was destined to replace. A Pininfarina design team led by Leonardo Fioravanti was tasked to deliver a completely new grand tourer offering more comfort, greater storage space, and cooler cabin temperatures than its predecessor. The result was a wide, low, angular design, featuring breathtaking side strakes, which forced cool air through twin side-mounted radiators and out through vents on top of the engine lid. In addition to improved engine cooling and a more comfortable cockpit, this ingenious design generated enough downforce to negate the need for a rear wing, which Fioravanti felt would detract from the car’s clean lines.
This immaculate two-owner US market example has covered less than 8,500 miles from new. It is finished in the classic color scheme of Rosso Corsa with beige leather interior, and the consignor regards this car as one of the most original and pristine examples to be found. It benefits from a recent engine-out service including timing belt replacement. The original owner’s manual, service and warranty book, and tool kit accompany the car.
A groundbreaking design at the time of its introduction, the Testarossa has become a coveted 12-cyinder Ferrari and a definitive 1980s sports car design. This low-mileage car presents an outstanding opportunity to own a meticulously preserved, highly original example of a brilliant design icon.
