At the 1994 Geneva Auto Show, Ferrari introduced the F355 Berlinetta, which revolutionized the company’s long-running mid-engine series with a new 40-valve V-8. This handsome example was built in May 1996 and specified for the US, finished in Rosso Corsa and trimmed with beige leather upholstery.
As documented by an extensive file of invoices and prior Bills of Sale, the F355 was acquired by Ferrari of Atlanta by mid-2001, at which point it had accrued 9,727 miles. The car was then purchased in August 2001 by Mark Moon of Waycross, Georgia, in a transaction that included a timing belt service and the installation of a rear Challenge grille.
Mr. Moon sold the Ferrari in 2004 to Vincent Canipelli of Lawrenceville, Georgia, who regularly serviced the car through the extent of his 10-year ownership, including a belt service in December 2014. In early 2015, the Berlinetta was acquired by the consignor, and it was soon registered with California plates reading “F355GTB.” The Ferrari has continued to receive attention as needed, and displays less than 33,000 miles.
Accompanied by a car cover, and manuals and a tool kit in proper leather pouches, this modestly driven F355 is desirably equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox. The well-maintained Berlinetta offers enjoyable road performance and will undoubtedly mature into a future Maranello collectible.
