The 993 Carrera 4S represents the final expression of Porsche’s air-cooled, all-wheeldrive sports car. One of just 937 examples destined for the North American market for 1997, this Carrera 4S rolled off Porsche’s Stuttgart line in late 1996, complete with a turbo-body appearance package and black leather interior, with its exterior finished in Glacier White. Well outfitted from the start, this car is further optioned with a factory 10-speaker sound system as well as power seats. Purchased by the consignor in January 1997 at Circle Porsche in Long Beach, California, it has been respectfully enjoyed and fastidiously maintained for its entire 21 years.
Service records for the C4S were faithfully archived by the owner; they indicate that most services were completed at Circle Porsche, with the owner typically supplying his own synthetic oil. The owner states that he has not allowed smoking, food, or drinks in his Porsche, has never raced or modified it, and has always worn leather gloves while driving to protect the steering wheel. He further reports an odometer reading under 15,000 miles, and that his Carrera 4S retains all factory-supplied literature, tools, and accessories.
Well-kept, low-mileage examples of late-model, air-cooled Porsches have become increasingly rare and collectible. This wonderfully preserved, single owner C4S represents a special opportunity for Porsche enthusiasts, not to be overlooked.
