When Ferrari won its 16th Constructors’ Championship in 2008, the company decided to celebrate. The culmination of that decision was the Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M – a limited-edition road car that was, at the time, the best-performing spider Ferrari had ever built.

Based upon the 430 Scuderia, the 16M mated Formula 1 performance with the incomparable thrill of open-air motoring. The celebration edition utilized the 4.3-liter V-8 alloy motor alongside the F1-Superfast 2 gearbox with an incredible shift speed of 60 milliseconds. Like the Formula 1 cars, the electronic differential was integrated into the stability control system, which intelligently distributes appropriate torque to each wheel. This is just one of the live systems governed by Ferrari’s racing version of the manettino, located on the steering wheel, which configures the parameters of the car’s electronic systems, catering to road conditions and the mood of the most mercurial driver. The 16M is endowed with massive carbon ceramic brakes and a race-tuned suspension with adjustable shock absorbers. Ferrari engineers shaved 200 pounds from the F430 Spider by replacing several components with carbon fiber to tip the power-to-weight ratio in favor of thoroughbred performance.

The design of the 16M is laser-focused on performance and aerodynamics. Because it is a spider, care was taken to beef up rigidity without jeopardizing aesthetics or weight. Much of the external styling was enhanced by carbon fiber, including revised treatment of the front air dam, mirrors, headlight housing, and diffuser. To accentuate the race persona of the 16M, the interior was designed to be minimalistic and raw. In place of carpet is the exposed skin of the cockpit, complete with weld tracks. The seats are Alcantara over molded carbon fiber, and in absence of extraneous soft furnishings, the soundtrack is a cacophony of visceral power and air-rush that is pure Ferrari.

This Scuderia Spider 16M is one of only 499 produced worldwide – and even rarer for being one of as few as four delivered in Giallo Modena. It was ordered with Pirelli tires, yellow brake calipers, and a distinctive black stripe that runs from nose to tail, accentuated by custom yellow stitching in the interior. Showing less than 800 miles on the odometer, this 16M is accompanied by factory books, tool kit with tire inflator, two sets of keys, car cover, battery charger, and the original window sticker, listing its many special options.

This pristine Scuderia Spider 16M is a limited edition with an F1 pedigree that will satisfy the Ferrari purist, whether for display in a collection or for the sheer exhilaration of driving an exotic.
