Ferrari’s 458 Challenge is powered by the same 570 hp V-8 as the 458 road car but with reengineered gear ratios and clutch calibrations. Additionally, it employs thinner body panels, additional carbon fiber, and polycarbonate glass. Ferrari’s E-Diff electronic differential and F1-Trac traction control work together to provide optimal acceleration.
According to a summary in its history file, this example was campaigned by a veteran of the Ferrari Challenge Series and supported by Extreme Speed Motorsports, the renowned Florida-based team that won Petit Le Mans in 2017. This 458 Challenge raced at tracks including Daytona and Laguna Seca, as well as at Watkins Glen, where it earned a hard-fought 2nd in Class.
Notes in its history file state that the 458 was updated with the desirable 2014 Challenge Evo AeroKit, that it received a new engine in October 2012, that the gearbox was rebuilt in 2014, and that a new clutch was installed during service in January 2015. The notes also state that brake rotors and pads were replaced prior to its run at Daytona in February 2015. After acquiring the car in 2016, the consignor spent over $13,000 further servicing the car. In total, more than 15 pages of service records and receipts are included in the car’s file.
Finished in Ferrari’s iconic Rosso Corsa, expertly campaigned, and maintained by a preeminent team, this 458 Challenge is an outstanding candidate for further on-track experiences.
