Ferrari’s 458 Challenge is powered by the same 570 bhp V-8 as the 458 road car but with re-engineered gear ratios and clutch calibrations to provide greater torque at lower rpm. To maximize performance on the track, Ferrari also significantly lowered the weight of the 458 Challenge by using thinner aluminum body panels, carbon fiber replacements, and polycarbonate glass throughout.
The 458 Challenge employs Ferrari’s E-Diff electronic differential and F1 Trac Traction Control, which monitors grip levels for maximum control. E-Diff and F1 Trac work together to provide optimum acceleration out of corners. Ferrari’s outstanding fixed racing seats and six-point harnesses combine to ensure an ideal and secure seating position.
This example, formerly campaigned by a veteran of the Ferrari Challenge series, has been updated with the 2014 Challenge Evo Aero Kit. It received a new 4.5-liter engine in October 2012, and the seven-speed Getrag gearbox was rebuilt in May 2014. A new clutch was installed during service in January 2015, and brake rotors and pads were replaced prior to its run at Daytona in February 2015.
Finished in Ferrari’s iconic Rosso Corsa, expertly campaigned, and maintained by a preeminent team, this Ferrari 458 Challenge stands ready to embark upon its next high-speed adventure.
