Mercedes-Benz’s AMG division has long been established as the automaker’s high-performance arm, but at the beginning of the 21st century, it had yet to develop a sports car on its own. That all changed with the SLS AMG. The SLS honored the glorious past of Mercedes-Benz with its 300 SL-inspired gullwing doors, but also offered spectacular modern performance with its 6.3-liter AMG V-8 engine.
The SLS AMG GT arrived in 2012 with a more powerful version of the V-8, along with numerous suspension and drivetrain tweaks. AMG improved its V-8 to produce an impressive 583 hp and revised its seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission to shift even faster, which reduced its 0–60 mph sprint to just 3.4 seconds.
Finished in Designo Mystic White, the 2013 SLS AMG GT offered here was built in February 2013, making it among the first examples bound for the US market. Its first owner took full advantage of the automaker’s Designo program with its special paint and black and anthracite exclusive leather upholstery with deviated red stitching. Carbon fiber high-gloss trim pieces add to the effect.
The current owner has used the SLS sparingly, and it showed just 2,250 miles when catalogued. It has remained within the consignor’s esteemed collection of exotic European sports cars and benefited from a service at Mercedes-Benz of Coconut Creek, Florida, in 2019. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a highly usable modern Mercedes-Benz sports car in a stunning bespoke specification.
