Founded in 2012 by ex-General Motors Vice Chairman Bob Lutz and industrialist Gilbert Villarreal, VL Automotive was later renamed VLF Automotive when famed designer Henrik Fisker joined the company in 2016. The Force 1 V10 was the company’s crowning achievement, and featured an all carbon fiber body, which clothed the basic underpinnings of a Dodge Viper, including its 8.4-liter V-10, enhanced to produce 745 bhp.
This example is the first built, and one of only five made. The consignor heard about the car as it was in its prototype stage, as he and noted Viper racer Ben Keating, someone instrumental to the Force 1’s development, raced a Viper GT3R together at Daytona. The consignor’s support of the project ensured he got car number one, ahead of even Henrik Fisker.
The VLF is finished in the stunning one-off color combination of Midnight Blue with an interior finished in red and black Nappa leather, suede, and Alcantara. Weighing just 3,395 pounds, the Force 1 is capable of 0–60 mph in three seconds and a top speed of 218 mph. The Force 1 features many hallmarks of Henrik Fisker’s dramatic design language. The car retains classic sports car proportions but bears extremely modern details, such as the uniquely sculptured hood and ultra-thin lights. As a bespoke American supercar with fascinating details and tremendous performance specifications, this Force 1 represents a combination of modern design and engineering that is worthy of even closer inspection.
