Introduced for 2016 by McLaren’s MSO (McLaren Special Operations) in a strictly limited run of 25 examples, the McLaren MSO HS took the idea of the bespoke modern supercar to the extreme, with each built to individual customer specification. Replete with weight-saving measures, unique aerodynamic features, and a blueprinted and optimized engine, the MSO HS delivers even greater performance than the potent 675LT, on which it is based.

Residing within an engine bay featuring a special clear-gloss finish over the carbon fiber structure, the M838TL twin-turbocharged DOHC V-8 engine of the MSO HS is trimmed with a bespoke coolant header tank and plenum cover. Blueprinted and delivering 679 hp – 13 more than in the 675LT – the engine powering the MSO HS features hand-polished exhaust ports, a crossflow-type muffler, and twin titanium exhaust outlets.

Handling the newfound power of the MSO HS are unique aerodynamic upgrades generating 220 pounds of additional downforce. All are made of carbon fiber, as are the full-length bodyside skirts, side intakes, and rear wing. Among the updates are a new front bumper and air splitter, dive planes, and roof-mounted air intake scoop reminiscent of the 1990s F1 GTR. Inspired by the earlier McLaren P1 is the electrically adjustable rear wing/air brake. The cabin of each MSO HS has been finished to individual customer specification, and while startlingly luxurious, also features weight-saving carbon fiber components and upholstery.

Accompanied by a CARFAX Vehicle History Report, this 2016 McLaren MSO HS was delivered new on December 21, 2016, to McLaren San Francisco and first purchased on January 3, 2017. A West Coast vehicle from new, less than 1,900 miles have been traveled at time of cataloguing. Finished in special-order MSO F1 Chrome exterior paint over a carbon black Alcantara interior, this very special vehicle is number 20 of the 25 manufactured.

Considered one of the most highly optioned cars of this select group, it also features the MSO exterior paint theme with pinstripes, satin-finish exterior carbon fiber, carbon fiber mirror arms and casings, carbon fiber wiper system cover, titanium oil and water filler caps, and polished aluminum rear-wing pylons. In addition to the MSO shift lights, this MSO HS includes the Carbon Fiber Interior Upgrade Package addressing the steering wheel, vent bezels, and doorsill tops. Outside are MSO carbon fiber accents, including the side vents, canards, hood, roof scoop, and rear bumper. Underneath the specially finished wheels are carbon ceramic brakes with McLaren orange calipers. The vehicle includes all this and innumerable other features and amenities, plus a McLaren Stealth Badge. A 95-point McLaren ESC inspection was most recently completed by factory-certified technicians. A truly unique offering, this 2016 McLaren MSO HS is stunning in every respect.
