Former factory Porsche racer Brian Redman and Porsche Cars North America developed the idea for a gathering of Porsche enthusiasts to celebrate the brand’s iconic competition cars, and the resulting Rennsport Reunion proved wildly successful in fanning Porsche passion among marque loyalists. To commemorate the Rennsport Reunion V held at California’s famous Laguna Seca raceway, Porsche introduced a limited-production model of its 911 Carrera GTS Coupe. Deemed an instant collectible, only 25 of the Rennsport Reunion Editions were released and quickly bought up by collectors.
All 25 examples were finished in special Fashion Grey paint with black and red stripes adorning the doors, roof, hood, and rear deck lid. Gloss black 20" Sport Classic wheels and exterior trim continued the theme. Inside, the black interior featured both leather and Alcantara surfaces, accented by Rennsport Reunion Edition carbon fiber trim, sill plates, and contrasting Carmine Red stitching. PASM sports suspension, 18-way adaptive sport seats, a Bose audio package, and rear ParkAssist rounded out the comfort features.
Available exclusively with a manual seven-speed transaxle, the Reunion Edition boasted 430 hp, which Porsche claimed could achieve 0–60 in 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 190 mph. As one of the last of the naturally aspirated GTS variants available before the introduction of the 991.2 series, the 2016 Carrera GTS Rennsport Reunion Edition remains highly prized by Porsche purists.
