As the fastest and priciest vehicle in Porsche’s 991-generation model range, the GT2 RS for 2018 carried on a hallowed tradition as the lightest and best-performing Turbo model from Stuttgart. Powered by an upgraded, 700 hp engine derived from the 991 Turbo, the GT2 RS raised the ante with larger brakes, stiffer underpinnings, and reduced weight, courtesy of its rear-drive power delivery and lightweight interior. GT2 RS bodywork is a technological masterpiece, featuring such elements as a magnesium roof; carbon fiber for the front lid, fenders, and engine cover; polyurethane front and rear aprons; side and rear windows of polycarbonate; and titanium for the exhaust system. Weighing 3,241 pounds with fluids, this four-wheeled pugilist is also available with the optional Weissach Package, shedding 30 more pounds with magnesium wheels and lighter-weight underpinnings.
Delivering stunning performance in concert with its seven-speed twin-clutch PDK gearbox, rear-axle steering, Porsche Active Suspension Management, and Porsche Stability Management, the GT2 RS also features Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, incorporating an electronically controlled, full-variable locking rear differential. According to Porsche, the GT2 RS is capable of reaching a top speed of 211 mph and can go from 0–60 mph in 2.7 seconds. Roadholding and braking are equally brilliant.
Unveiled at the Microsoft Xbox 2017 E3 event celebrating the launch of Forza Motorsport 7, the new GT2 RS was both a cover car and featured vehicle for the popular video game series. It officially debuted at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed along with the 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series, and lap records followed. The most notable came at the Nürburgring Nordschleife – first in September 2017, and again on October 25, 2018, when Porsche test driver Lars Kern reclaimed the production car lap record from archrival Lamborghini.
Offered from the private collection of the original owner, this stunning 991-series Porsche 911 GT2 RS was completed on April 20, 2018, and today shows less than 120 miles. Complete with the factory-issued books and manuals, plus commemorative document box, window sticker, and Porsche Production Specifications certificate, it features the $18,000 Weissach Package. Gorgeous in white with black accents over black leather/Alcantara upholstery including Platinum Grey stitching, this example is further equipped with an impressive array of 18 other factory options. Among them are the Front Axle Lift System, a larger fuel tank (23.7 gallons), and aluminum pedals and footrest. A limited run of just 1,000 examples of the GT2 RS is envisioned by Porsche, making this a singular opportunity to acquire an instant classic.
