1993 W154 Half-Scale Replica

Mercedes-Benz developed the astoundingly beautiful W154 to compete in the European Drivers’ Championship races of 1938 and 1939. Designed and built by Rudolf Uhlenhaut, the 12-cylinder race car went on to win the championship, driven by track titans such as Rudolf Caracciola and Hermann Lang.

This incredible half-scale replica of the W154 racer is an aesthetically correct copy built in the early 1990s by engineer I.J.G. Carson. Measuring 250 cm (98") long, the diminutive monoposto is finished in the correct color of the famed Silver Arrows and comprises a handcrafted chassis with bodywork in steel and aluminum. Powered by a 49 cc, 32:1 premix two-stroke engine, the car features pedal-operated throttle and brake. The stylish, engine-turned metal dash includes a push-button ignition plus three dials showing rpm, amps, and temperature. Acquired by the current owner in 2014, the delightful machine presents in pristine condition, following a recent inspection and service. This meticulously scaled Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow is a unique creation, and while it is assuredly every young enthusiast’s dream, it promises to be the center of conversation at any automotive gathering.

The consignor has pledged to donate his proceeds from the sale to benefit The Roe Foundation, a private organization which supports wildlife conservation including the protection of sharks and rays, and HIV prevention.
