1926 Rolls-Royce 40/50 HP Silver Ghost Salamanca Landaulette

As the second-to-last Silver Ghost produced by the Springfield, Massachusetts works, chassis S399RL benefits from the improvements made during the 20-year production run. Originally delivered to Mrs. Forman of Buffalo, New York in November 1926, it retains its original Salamanca coachwork by Willoughby, configurable as an enclosed limousine, an open front town car, or as a landaulette. It was acquired by California enthusiast Dick Messer in 2012, and restoration was completed in 2014. This Silver Ghost then received 94.5 points at the 2020 CCCA Grand Classic in Rancho Santa Fe. Two years later, it completed the 1,600-mile Silver Ghost Association tour of Moab, Utah, without incident. The Gear Vendors overdrive allows it to cruise at higher speeds with ease. Acquired by its current owner in 2023, recent receipts document more than $40,000 spent on mechanical work, interior upgrades, and tour preparation. The Silver Ghost successfully completed another tour in 2025.

Elegant deep red paintwork is accented by black fenders, roof, and wire wheels. The interior of the chauffeur’s compartment is finished in black leather, with light beige cloth in the rear compartment. This late Silver Ghost is welcome at any SGA or CCCA event, making an impressive statement on the show field or open road.
