1929 Talbot M-75 ‘De Vizcaya’ Touring Coupe

Hailing from the Sunbeam-Talbot-Darracq era, prior to Tony Lago’s involvement, this Talbot is one of a modest number of M75 2.5-liter six-cylinder cars produced by the company. While the majority would have received factory coachwork, this special automobile had the honor of being clothed by one of France’s finest coachbuilders, Million-Guiet of Paris. Its striking, all-aluminum bodywork, referred to as tout alu, was designed and patented by automobile designer Jean de Vizcaya, and is thought to have been a show car for the marque.

The Talbot is believed to have been sold new through the Paris agent Weismann to the original owner, M. le Franc. Subsequent owners included M. Odenbach and the noted race car driver Jean-Claude Fabre, who acquired the car in 1990. Sympathetically restored for Fabre and then exercised for many miles, it joined the Mullin Collection in 2008.

A remarkable and likely unique car, the Million- Guiet Talbot encapsulates this period of Art Deco design applied to the automobile, carrying features such as Cromos bumpers, piano-hinge doors, “frenched in” running-board tool boxes, and twin rear-mounted spares. It is a design more commonly seen on Bugatti and Hispano-Suiza cars, but is perfectly scaled to the Talbot and sure to draw much attention on any concours field.
