Debuted at the 1928 Paris Motor Show, the four-cylinder Citroën AC4 and six-cylinder AC6 were methodically improved evolutions of the French automaker’s prior B12, B14, and B15 model lines. A slight redesignation came by 1929, with the AC (André Citroën) model prefix simplified to C4 and C6. Featuring handsome styling clearly inspired by Ford’s contemporary Model A, the new Citroëns were upmarket in character, being at once larger, lower, and more comfortable than ever before. They were propelled by more powerful engines as well as an improved chassis featuring new servo-assisted brakes. A wide array of open and closed bodies was available in Citroën tradition, ranging from sporty to formal and luxurious. Production continued through 1932, and the AC4/C4 in particular was quite successful with 121,000 examples built.

Fitted with limousine bodywork, this 1930 Citroën C4 was reportedly purchased in 1972 by the noted classic car enthusiast and collector André Trigano. A successful businessman and multi-term local politician, M. Trigano was also renowned as a French Resistance member who survived multiple arrests during WWII. In 2016, this C4 was acquired by the Mullin Collection and brought to the US from France. A well-preserved older restoration, this C4 Limousine perfectly represents the transition from Citroën’s simplicity of the 1920s to greater sophistication during the 1930s.
