Gnome et Rhone was best known as an aero engine manufacturer and began building motorcycles in 1919 as a way to diversify after WWI. In 1938, the company took over the innovative automobile producer Voisin, and after WWII, they started producing Voisin Gnome et Rhone-branded motorcycles.
According to the Mullin Automotive Museum’s history summary on file, this Gnome et Rhone motorcycle was maintained in single family ownership since new and restored prior to being purchased by the Mullin Collection via Phillipe Moch in 2010. This 125 cc single-cylinder motorcycle has been displayed in the Mullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard, California, since acquisition and was displayed at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance® in 2013. Rarely seen in the US, this charming two-stroke motorcycle could be a handsome addition to any collection.
*Please note that all of the Lots in this Auction have been in long-term static storage at the Mullin Automotive Museum and may not be currently operational. They will require mechanical attention and in some cases significant restoration prior to any road use.
