This Allard J2X was ordered on July 11, 1952, and shipped in October of that year to Noel Kirk Motors in Hollywood, California, according to research conducted by marque authority Dyke Ridgley. The car was configured in left-hand drive and finished in red over a black leather interior. Options included a windshield, wire wheels, and Cadillac engine mounts.
The J2X was sold new to Dr. Fred Losee of Washington, D.C. Losee was an original member of the “Lavender Hill Mob,” a racing group in the D.C. area that included famed driver Dr. Dick Thompson. Losee entered his Allard in the SCCA preliminary at Andrews Air Force Base in May 1954, where it placed 3rd in Class and 24th Overall, while also finishing 2nd Overall in the preliminary at Cumberland. By 1955, Losee had acquired a Veritas, and the Allard was sold to Frank Fries of Fall River Mills, California.
The J2X was later acquired from Mr. Fries by Hahn Motor Company of Yakima, Washington, which sold the car to the consignor’s father in 1965. The Allard has since been entered in numerous vintage hill climbs and racing events throughout the Pacific Northwest and nationwide. Presented in its original colors and equipped with a Chrysler Hemi engine and long-range fuel tank, this Allard J2X is offered from over six decades of single family ownership.
