1954 Alfa Romeo 1900C SS Coupe

Introduced in 1951, Alfa Romeo’s short-wheelbase 1900C (“corto”) paired the marque’s advanced engineering with custom coachwork from distinguished Italian firms such as Ghia, Pinin Farina, Touring, and Zagato. Among the most desirable variants are the handsome Touring-bodied “five-window” Sprint coupes constructed in the coachbuilder’s patented Superleggera (Super Light) method. According to the authoritative book Alfa Romeo 1900 Sprint, Carrozzeria Touring built just 949 examples, including 299 second-series cars produced during 1954 and 1955, such as the example offered here, chassis 01869.

According to correspondence on file, this 1900C Super Sprint was delivered new to Switzerland and reportedly remained there until 1999, when it entered Italian ownership. Acquired by the consignor in 2001, it has since resided in a private Alfa Romeo collection. Refinished in its distinctive Azzurro-Verde Oceano livery, the Sprint remains fundamentally unrestored and notably well-preserved throughout. At the time of cataloguing, the odometer displayed 59,396 km, and the car retains many desirable features, including its tipo 1308 engine, original glass, Carello lighting, and numbered Touring body tag. Accompanied by a tool kit, jack, and related documentation, this charming, collector-owned 1900C Super Sprint is a rare, appealing, and event-eligible Touring-bodied Alfa Romeo.
