This left-hand-drive Jaguar XK140 SE Roadster was ordered new with the desirable Special Equipment (SE) specification. The SE package featured the C-Type cylinder head, performance pistons, revised camshafts, and a tuned, dual exhaust, increasing the published output to 210 hp.
According to its Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, this XK140 was assembled in May 1955, and originally finished in black over a gray interior with red piping. It was sold new via Max Hoffman in New York and dispatched to Hornburg Jaguar in Los Angeles. The car then passed through three generations of a single California family over 58 years.
In 2006, the original owner’s grandson commissioned a restoration, and the Roadster has covered only limited mileage since. Under current ownership since 2016, it has been carefully maintained and astutely upgraded with a five-speed manual gearbox and Wilwood front disc brakes – improvements that aid its usability on tours and rallies. Now presented in British Racing Green over beige leather, it displays chrome wire wheels and a well-kept interior.
Perfect for fair-weather tours across the country – and combining desirable factory specification with tasteful upgrades – this XK140 SE Roadster is primed for its next chapter.
