1957 Jaguar XK140 SE Drophead Coupe

The XK140 was launched in 1954 as Jaguar’s top sporting offering, with increased power and interior space over the XK120. The drophead coupe was the elite model, featuring a beautiful wooden dash, sumptuous leather upholstery, and roll-up windows with a substantial, insulated convertible top. According to its California-based consignor, this handsome Jaguar was purchased from its second owner in 2003, and before long it was entrusted to the noted Jaguar specialists XKs Unlimited for an extensive mechanical and cosmetic restoration. The work included refinishing the coachwork in its attractive maroon metallic, complemented by a retrim in biscuit leather and a fully lined brown canvas top. Brightwork was replated and the veneered dashboard and door caps were expertly revarnished.

Mechanically, this Drophead Coupe has received several useful upgrades to enhance its driveability in modern traffic, including the fitting of a five-speed Tremec overdrive manual gearbox, Wilwood front disc brakes, alternator, and an aluminum radiator for increased cooling efficiency. As a coveted SE model, this XK140 enjoys an additional 20 hp over the standard model, which is sure to be of value on the extended driving tours and rallies for which it is eligible.
