The distinctly modern Park Ward Bentley S2 Continental Drophead Coupe penned by Norwegian Vilhelm Koren featured a sleek grille reduced by 3”, straight-through wing line, and hooded headlamps. Just 125 examples were built, with 65 specified in left-hand drive, and they proved popular with celebrities such as this car’s first owner – prominent actor Laurence Harvey. At the peak of his career, Harvey appeared in such notable films as The Alamo, BUtterfield 8, The Manchurian Candidate, and Room at the Top.

Finished in Porcelain White when new, Mr. Harvey’s Bentley was equipped with power windows and top as well as four tumblers and a spirit flask. It was registered for the road as “LH 7” in the UK, before being shipped to him in the US. On his passing in 1973, the car was acquired by a collector in Chicago, and from there it went to a Westchester County, New York family in the early 1980s. Over the subsequent four decades of care, the Bentley was treated to a refurbishment of its cosmetics and interior. Sensibly, aftermarket air-conditioning has been fitted to the dash, which still retains its period Becker Mexico radio.

Combining rarity, elegance, and celebrity provenance, this S2 Continental Drophead Coupe remains a standout example of Park Ward’s artistry and a fitting tribute to the golden age of British motoring.
