1961 Jaguar XK150 3.8-Litre Fixed Head Coupe

The XK150 was the last and most refined of Jaguar’s XK series, evolving from an outright sports car into a capable grand tourer. Introduced in 1957, featuring four-wheel disc brakes, a higher beltline, and a roomier cabin, it paired spirited performance with real luxury. Starting in 1960, buyers could specify the larger 3.8-litre engine, first seen in the Mark IX, and destined for the upcoming E-Type; just 656 Fixed Head Coupes left the factory so equipped.

This 1961 XK150 Fixed Head Coupe is one of those rare 3.8-litre examples, built in the final year of XK production with a BorgWarner automatic transmission. It was restored in 2008, and finished in dual-tone Claret over a maroon interior, with its wire wheels painted to match. The 3.8-litre engine has been upgraded to “S” specification with triple SU carburetors, 9:1 high-compression pistons, and a stainless steel exhaust, paired with a T-5 five-speed gearbox and power steering. Together, these changes shift the character of this XK150 to a true driver’s car with refined touring capabilities.
